THURROCK Council is again seeking some eager legal eagles looking for work experience through the summer.

Over the past six years, the council has helped over a dozen young people through internships.

David Lawson, the council’s Deputy Head of Legal, said: “We are happy to offer a three-month internship for volunteers who have finished their law degree, but haven’t yet found a training placement.

“This is a chance for you to learn, hands-on, about some of the work we do – from planning to criminal law, and many other areas too many to mention.”

He added: “We have a long-established training programme which so far has always led to employment opportunities for those who take part, whether it is here in Thurrock or elsewhere.

“We are offering the experience you need to find a job.”

Thurrock’s legal department has close links with many other authorities across East Anglia, the Home Counties and east London — indeed the Head of Legal, Tasnim Shawkat, is a shared post with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham..

Anyone interested in the three-month internship should contact Thurrock’s Legal department at [email protected]
