GCSE’S 2012: Don’t hassle the Hassenbrook! as they achieve greatest results ever

WE WERE very tempted to make the headline: “Richard’s revenge” but we know that Hassenbrook headteacher Mr Glasby is a mild mannered gentlemen. But anyone who saw his interview after the Ofsted report would know that he was confident that this set of results would put a marker down.

Hassenbrook Academy achieved the best GCSE results in the Academy’s history. 65% of students achieved 5 or more A* to C Grades including English and Maths, a leap from last year’s 58% and bettering the previous best achieved in 2010 of 63%. 73% of students achieved at least 5 A* to C grades.

Notably, two students, Elliot Ward and Billy Ardley, achieved 15 GCSE or equivalent passes at Grades A* to C, with a further ten students achieving 14 GCSE passes at Grades A* to C or equivalent. Senior Prefects, Chloe Sebastiao and Mary Adesina achieved 14 GCSE passes, all at A or A* grade, with distinctions in OCR Nationals in ICT, an accolade that many students across the country can only dream of. Nearly 40% of the cohort achieved 10 or more GCSE passes at Grade C or above.

Richard Glasby, Headteacher, is delighted with the outcome. “Students and staff are to be congratulated for this fantastic set of results , our best ever; the hard work from all concerned has really paid off. Hassenbrook is on the up, and we aspire to continue this improvement in our performance in coming years. Despite a reported decrease in GCSE results nationally, Hassenbrook are pleased to announce our results have improved.’
