THURROCK MP, Jackie Doyle Price has explained her reasons for not joining 114 of her colleagues and voting against
the Queens speech.
Jackie Doyle-Price said: “I think it disrespectful for any member of the governing parties to vote against Her Majesty’s gracious speech. It just isn’t the time or place for such a debate, particularly when we have a clear commitment that a majority Conservative Government will hold a referendum. That colleagues chose to use this occasion for such a debate is regrettable. .
“My position has always been that Europe has too much power and that we should renegotiate our relationship with Europe and then put the issue to the British people in a referendum. That is the manifesto pledge I will be standing on at the next election. The message is clear,. If you vote Conservative at the next election you will get a in/out referendum.
“As for the vote last week I couldn’t support it as I think it disrespectful for any member of the governing parties to vote against Her Majesty’s gracious speech. It just isn’t the time or place for such a debate, particularly when we have a clear commitment that a majority Conservative Government will hold a referendum. That colleagues chose to use this occasion for such a debate is regrettable.
“My colleague James Wharton will now be bringing forward a Private Members Bill to legislate for such a referendum and I stand four square behind him.”

Should we believe this? They promised a referendum before the last General Election – so did Labour and the LibDems.
I don’t trust you Jackie. You back your leader and not the Party members. What are we members “swivel eyed loons”
Don’t waste your time trying to negotiate with Germany and France, Sure they will follow your lead, won’t they.
We are voting UKIP. Too Late. We know UKIP will get us out.
The problem is dear you are talking about an unlikely event happening in 2 years time and then asking the public to wait another 2 years after that before you do anything about it. By which time there’ll be some other pressing matter which means you won’t hold a referendum. The Tories are blackmailing people into voting for them. At elast the Labour party have been clear. They’re selling us out entirely. UKIP want us out entirely. The Tories want to sit on the fence.
The MP is not being entirely straight. She surely knows that it is not possible to renegotiate our membership of the EU, the EU’s own rules prevent that. What she does probably know is that Merkel et al will allow the illusion of the UK having done a deal in order to prevent us voting out in a referendum. You cannot trust either the Tories or Labour on the issue of Europe, they both want to maintain the status quo even if both, from time to time, make noises to the contrary.
