THE UNDER-FIRE Property Management Company at the centre of problems with storm damage to homes in Bridgland Road in Purfleet have gone on the record to update on progress made to the state of repairs.
A spokesperson said: “Last October, a storm damaged the roof at a residential block of flats at the Watts Wood Park development in Purfleet.
“We immediately instructed a maintenance company to make emergency repairs. Once the building was made safe the contractor recommended a series of further repairs, and a claim was sent to the insurance company appointed by the freeholder. We also notified the original developer, Bellway Homes.
“The freeholder’s insurer appointed loss adjuster Cunningham Lindsey to manage the claim, liaise with affected residents and make arrangements for the necessary repairs, including approving all costs.
Our Property Manager carried out regular site inspections at Watts Wood Park in November and December.
Unfortunately, the terrible weather conditions in late December caused further damage to the roof and some residents were evacuated for their own safety. We recognise the considerable inconvenience that the storm damage caused residents so close to Christmas and we are very sorry for the distress they have experienced.
Our customer services and operational team have been in constant contact with the loss adjuster’s team on our customers’ behalf, and ensured they offered temporary accommodation to those residents affected by the storm damage.
A meeting on 3 January at Watts Wood Park was attended by the loss adjuster, its surveyors, contractors and senior members of the OM team. Watts Wood Park residents’ also had an opportunity to meet our property management team at a residents meeting on 7 January.
We have arranged a further meeting with residents on 21 January when the loss adjustor will be able to update customers on the on-going repair work.
We have received assurances from the loss adjuster that repairs will be conducted quickly and residents will be able to return to their homes as soon as possible.
