IT WAS launched in a blaze of glory but in just under eighteen months, baby specialists, Kiddicare is to close its doors.
It was on December 12th 2012 that Kiddicare threw open the doors to their largest baby superstore at Lakeside Retail Park.
But the Peterborugh based store has confirmed that it is closing all but one of its eleven stores around the UK.
When the Thurrock store opened it stated that it had created 167 local jobs so the closure will be a blow to many people in Thurrock.
The company had made its name as an on-line company. The roll out to reality was a venture but it appears that it is a venture that has failed.
With the previous occupants of the store, Best Buy also closing after a relatively short occupancy, it has led to conjecture as to whether such a large space can be filled.
A spokesperson for Kiddicare said: “I can confirm that the Lakeside store will be closed. At this moment in time we do not have a date for closure”.

Badly located site for this store, it may have been better suited over the road on the other part of the retail site (PC World) as there is more footfall.
If another retailer moves onto this site they are going to find it difficult going, maybe convert it into leisure activities like a bowling alley etc.
I agree, turn this unit over to leisure.
