A GRAYS man has pleaded guilty to the murder of a schoolboy that he met on-line.

Lewis Daynes, 19, of Rosebery Road, Grays, appeared in the dock at Chelmsford Crown Court this morning (Tuesday).

The charge of murder was read to Daynes and he uttered the single word: "Guilty".

Breck Bednar, of Caterham in Surrey, was found with a neck wound at the flat off London Road in February.

It is believed the two met whilst playing on-line video games.

Barrister, Richard Whittam QC told the court that the murder "involved a sexual, sadistic motivation."

The guilty plea appeared to take Breck Bednar’s parents, Barry Bednar and Lorin LaFave, by surprise, as they sat in the court.

Daynes, dressed in a smart grey suit, looked impassive during the hearing but did look round the gallery on one occasion.

Mrs Justice Cox adjourned sentencing to January 12th.
