THURROCK Labour’s candidate for the next general election, Polly Billington, is at the centre of a Sunday Times article where a number of high profile parliamentary candidates have expressed their concerns over Labour’s policy direction.

Their comments are mainly from a public meeting at the House of Commons on Monday night (Dec 15th) where a policy document was also launched called "Our communities"

Ms Billington’s chapter focusses on the changing communities in Thurrock and looks at the challenges Ukip has brought.

At the meeting, Ms Billington expressed her frustration at badly written "boilerplate" press releases as well as expressing a desire to see more of a concentration on issues as opposed to voter registration.

Other candidates, according to the article, expressed their frustration at a number of issues such as the Labour line on discussing immigration as well as some of Ed Miliband’s political language.

YT spoke to Ms Billington regarding the article but would not be drawn further. However, she did signpost us to the chapter she wrote on communities.
