Today I was privileged to witness a truly amazing display. An idea from many weeks ago, many weeks of hard work, and a number of club members dedication all resulted in the culmination of a Christmas concert of such high standard that it would not have looked out of place on Britain’s Got Talent.

Sean Cochrane aided by Adam Lakey produced a choir that performed a number of classic and modern Christmas songs for the residents of Kynoch Court. The audience toe tapped, sang along and clapped in appreciation as the choir, who had been formed from the mini & midi section, youth section, senior men’s and ladies teams, gave a flawless and magical rendition. The harmonies had been put together so well that each song had such depth and quality; the duets gave comedy and angelic beauty.

Simon (Daddy) Rumble & Anna Winn, Sophie Davies & Lucy Winn stepped up for the duets however the whole choir were unbelievably fantastic. A group of rugby players giving up 6 weeks of their time to come together, you could be forgiven to expect an average performance but this was more than that far more.

This event just shows you what unique members Stanford RFC have, it’s not just a rugby club it’s so much more, well done to everyone that took part. For me it will be a treasured Christmas memory for years to come and I am sure without doubt the audience was just as awestruck.
