AT Westley Heights on Boxing Day the Crown to Crown ‘fun run’ as it is

billed attracted a field of around 300. This race always attracts a

strong field with good class club runners leading the way. Among those

runners this time was Thurrock’s Alec Finch who was 3rd in 17m55s, a

    personal best for this course.

The Loughborough student has wintered well and can look forward to earning his place in the Essex County under 20s team for the National Inter Counties Championship.

The ladies course record, held by Jessica Judd, was beaten by Jasmine Finney who

runs for Bristol and the County of Cornwall. Gemma Holloway was 2nd to

her with an excellent time of 18m55s. Overall Gemma finished 10th.

Just in front of Gemma, Jodi Meredith had an excellent run to finish 9th

in 18m45s. An eye catching performance came from former Harrier, Chris

Hardy. He was 13th with a time of 19m35s. Chris turns 50 next month and

Thurrock management’s best persuasive arts will be used to lure him

back to competition in the Club’s already strong 50+ age group.

    Other results included:

    Jack Exley (under 15) 12th, 19m27s.

    Oliver Mann (under 17) 18th, 20m02s.

    Ben Prior (under 13) 27th, 21m04s

    Iain Scott (senior men) 33rd, 21m11s (p.b.)

    Hayley Instance (under 13g) 38th, 21m26s

    Taylor Newell (under 15) 40th, 21m40s

    Mick Bumstead (MV60) 42nd, 21m43s

    Nigel Instance (MV40) 62nd, 23m14s

    Henri Willett (under 13) 88th, 24m51s

    Charlotte Edwards (SW) 131, 27m02s.
