THE Main Lake at the Warren Lake in Stanford-le-Hope provided an outstanding weekend for the carp boys when 19 fish were captured by several anglers.
Of the 19 fish caught only 2 were under 20 lb, both weighing in at just over 19lb each.
The average weight of the 19 fish was 24lb, giving a total weight of 456lb of carp captured.
Star of the show was Trevor Mayhew who landed a giant mirror carp of 35lb 12oz.
This was just 2lb under the lake carp record of 38lb. (see photo).
The pike season has been open just a few days and the biggest reported fish so far was weighed in at 16lb.
Since two pike over 30lb were caught last season there are quite a few "big old girls" waiting to be caught as the season develops.
