CONSERVATIVE highways spokesperson and Orsett Councillor Sue Little has spoken of her delight that there should be a bus service for Horndon but still had harsh words for the Labour-run Thurrock Council.

Cllr Little said: "It is great news for my residents in Horndon and Bulphan who would have been left without any public transport following the Labour-run Council’s shortsighted decision to cut the funding for this vital service.

"I pushed very hard from the moment this cut was announced to get some level of bus provision and am glad it paid off. However, all of the distress caused by Labour announcing that the service would be cut could have been avoided if the Cabinet member had put a little bit of thought in before running to the press blaming government cuts, something he again intimates again here.

However Labours default response falls flat on its face when Thurrock residents know the one thing Labour do well is waste taxpayers money. I am sorry but when they can afford to spend £42million on non permanent staff over the past 4 years, twice that of our nearest Unitary Council neighbour in Southend, or spend tens of thousands propping up services like Grays beach cafe or on translation services and paid Union staff I am sure they can find the money to support a small rural bus service.
