LAST week, we wrote a news item on the state of Grays High Street.
The story attracted hundreds of comments on our facebook page and clearly shows that it is clearly an issue that concerns many of our residents.
Many were equally concerned at the PR-lite response by Thurrock Council which basically said "The responsibility for this kind of mess lies with those who cause it, not the council."
So, it look like they are a council of their word.
One of our readers took a photograph of the high street on Wednesday morning and is horrified at the state of the street.
She said: "I work hard and love my house but this is what I face every day going to work."
We will continue to report on the state of the high street until something is done.
Update; Just an hour after we published this story, Grays resident, Rob Seaman started a petition on www.change.org. calling for the High Street to be tidied up. We will keep an eye on how many signatures it receives.
