WEST Tilbury WI ladies were entertained to hear of the trip to the Royal Garden Party taken by Lorna Jones who came to the meeting in all her finery. She told members that it was an experience she will never forget. The only damper on the day was the long queue for the toilets. Well with about 8,000 women, there would be a lot of them needed.

Our speaker was Ex Policeman Peter Layzell with tales from a rural policeman. This was his life from a sixteen year old cadet to the post of Inspector. He told of the difference in the changes from policing of the sixties to the political correctness of today.

St Luke’s Hospice have asked for the WI’s to join in with a Summer Event, Big Brew for their 25th Anniversary a tea party to raise funds is suggested.

The President of Aveley Doreen Kelly took the premature baby clothes from the Spring Group Exhibition meeting made by WI members to the Neonatal unit at Basildon Hospital these were gratefully received.

Several members have completed their squares for the Patchwork quilt to be made by WI groups to be exhibited at this year’s Orsett Show.

The Raffle was won by June Adams, and Niki Garwood

The July 74th Birthday party is by invitation only.

Next meeting at West Tilbury Village Hall is on August 4th 2015 ‘A night at the Bingo’.
