IN late July, travellers moved onto the Daisy Field off Feenan Highway in Tilbury.
Now, as our sister paper in Harlow (www.yourharlow.com) had some experience of the way the law was dispensed in relation to unlawful encampments, we thought the full force of the law would hit them.
Why? Because they were encamped next to a play area.
In May 2014 the same thing had happened in Harlow Town Park. In 48 hours, they were gone.
But it seems to be different in Thurrock. A week later, they were still there. We can only assume that the full force of the law was delivered in the manner of Sgt Wilson in Dads Army: "I wonder if you would be so kind.."
Now, guess what, they have moved around the corner to the Anchor Field near the Civic Square.
Tilbury councillor Lyn Worrall is incandescent. Thurrock Conservative leader Rob Gledhill has been in contact with the authorities all weekend.
We can only assume that Essex Police will be sending in Private Godfrey’s sister Dolly….
To be continued..
