PATRICIA Carroll is walking from Lakeside to Southend and back in one day on Saturday 12th September in aid of the British Kidney Patient Association. She has been campaigning to raise awareness of organ donation since she lost her daughter Natalie last year.
Patricia said: "It is important that we talk about this and promote the issue. If you sign up for the organ donation list then please let your loved ones know.
"Without them giving permission when you have passed away your organs cannot be passed on, regardless of it you have signed onto the register or not.
"Just having that one conversation can save the lives of many people."
Cllr Tim Aker MEP said: "This is a very important cause that I hope gets a lot of attention.
"People need to know that one conversation can change and save lives.
"If people are thinking about registering for organ donation they need to talk it through with their family and register immediately.
"Too many people, including children, die every day waiting for an organ transplant.
"This initiative from Pat will save lives, please support her."
