THE family of a man who died following a road traffic collision described him as a loving person with a sense of fun and passion for sport.

Derek Coleman , 82, of Tilbury, was involved in a collision with a bus in Civic Square, Tilbury, on Thursday, August 20.

He sadly died in hospital on Tuesday, September 1.

Mr Coleman ’s family said: "He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who has been taken away from those who loved him before his time.

"Derek always had a sense of fun, joked with everyone he met and enjoyed being silly with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

"His passion for sport lasted throughout his life, from playing sport as a young man through to representing the county at bowls in his later years.

"His death removes some of the colour from our family."

A 48-year-old man from Rochester was arrested in connection with the collision and released on bail until Friday, November 20 pending further police enquiries.
