HARRIS ACADEMY Chafford Hundred has published their GCSE results for last year.

The Mayflower Road school published the results a few weeks after they received them.

83% of students attained 5 or more GCSEs at A* to C.

This is a 10% drop from last year and their lowest percentage since 2010. The result still puts the school head and shoulders above the others.

But there are still a number of schools that have yet to do so and begs a questions as to why the delay.

Schools received their results on Wednesday August 20th. The next day, Ormiston Park Academy, Grays Convent, Hathaway Academy and Gable Hall published their results.

Other schools published some form of results but not the key statistic of 5 A* to C (inc Eng and Maths). It is the statistic that many people, whether parents, politicians or educationalists use to judge the schools’ academic performance.

Sources suggest that the schools may be appealing a number of results where pulls expected to have attained a C, have been graded a D.

At some stage the results will be published.

Others may wonder what they will tell prospective parents at Open Evenings.

The schools that have yet to publish are:

    William Edwards

    Ockendon Academy

    Hassenbrook Academy

    St Cleres Co-operative Academy

    Gateway Academy

The results to date are as follows (2014 figure in brackets)

    1. Harris Academy: 83% (93%)

    2. Grays Convent: 70% (63%)

    3. Gable Hall: 58% (74%)

    4. Hathaway Academy: 44% (44%)

    5. Ormiston Park Academy: 42% (38%)
