GERMAN utility RWE has withdrawn its planning application for Tilbury C, according to information published by the Planning Inspectorate on Monday.
It had planned to build a new 2.4GW gas-fired power station on the site. The existing unit B, which had been converted from coal to biomass prior to closing in 2013, will now be demolished.
A short statement issued on the planning inspectorate website states: "The project has been withdrawn by the developer."
