MANY of the club’s older members have learned with great sadness of the death of Fred Seal at his home in Weymouth, Dorset.

Fred and his wife, Maureen, were mainstays of the club in the fifties. Fred was a founder member and Maureen a pioneer in Women’s athletics.

During the fifties Fred helped to establish the Harriers as an effective club. After his competitive retirement he served as an official in various roles.

All in the club’s membership send their condolences to Fred’s family.

Another great run from Alec Finch. In the recent Loughborough International meeting he returned an excellent 1500m time of 3m56.36s, a pb by 5 seconds. This is the fastest 1500m time by a Harrier in about 15 years.

Two more good results came in the Hatfield Broad Oak 10k. Tim Martin broke the 40m barriers for the first time and Antony Tobin returned to form with a 38m performance.
