TWO THURROCK teenagers have undertaken an amazing swimming challenge for charity.
Lucy Selby (age 14) and her friend Ellie Cooper (age 13), decided to take on the monumental challenge, Swim22 for Diabetes UK.
This involved swimming 22 miles (the distance from England to France).
They started on 22nd February and finished ahead of schedule, on 14th May. Lucy, who attends Grays Convent High School and Ellie who attends Hathaway Academy, both have a parent with type 1 Diabetes.
So far, they have raised around £850. Donations can still me made via JustGiving

Lucy’s mother, Luan said: "These are two amazing ladies who have who selflessly given their time and energy to raise funds and awareness for a potentially life threatening condition, which, contrary to common belief, does not only affect overweight and unhealthy people. I didn’t ask to be inflicted at the age of 5, nor did Ellie’s dad at age 7".
