THURROCK WERE pushed all the way but still grabbed a vital three points at Ship Lane on Wednesday night.
Goals by Mark Oneyham (20′), David Cowley (36′) and Joe Christou (50′) secured the points but Romford made it very difficult for the Fleet with goals by Nick Reynolds (25′) and Chinedu McKenzie (58′).
The result means Thurrock remain in second place but are now just two points behind Maldon and Tiptree.
They return to league action on New Years Eve against Great Wakering Rovers.
