FORMER Thurrock Council leader, John Kent has been put forward as the Labour candidate for the constituency of Thurrock at the next General Election.
Councillor Kent beat off five other candidates in an election that took place in Grays on Saturday morning.
He was the General Election candidate in June when he lost Conservative MP Jackie Doyle Price by just 345 votes.
The next General Election is set for June 2022.
We will speak to John Kent in due course.

if he can’t beat JDP he should jack in politics altogether.
God help us if HE wins. Thurrock can’t afford a Labour win, let alone the UK.
Young Kent has been by far the stand out local politician for several years now. I am no Corbynista but i will vote for John.
He got Thurrock Council into a right mess when he was leader of Thurrock Council for far to long.
It’s a dead cert that Labour will get the country into an even bigger mess that’s for sure. You only have to look at their record. We are still reeling after their last attempt fiasco.
Good to see Willow has some political savvy.
