After 30 years delivering hot fresh fish and chips to the people of Thurrock Vernon Clinch will park his van up for the last time this summer. Unless he finds a buyer for the business this summer the familiar sight of Vern’s van in a Thurrock village will be no more. In his words “he a dying trade” and will go the same way as bread delivery, the greengrocer and the Corona man. In these economic times and high unemployment perhaps there is someone out there with the passion and drive to take this on. If not then we say thank you to Vern for his service and our bellies will be the poorer for your retirement. Enjoy your cricket!
