AN invitation is being sent out to all Normandy Veterans in Havering, Thurrock and surrounding areas to attend as guests for a special 65th Anniversary D-Day Commemoration Show being held at the Purfleet Heritage & Military Centre.
The organisers would like any veterans, Army, Navy or RAF who are not already visiting Normandy, to be their honoured guests at the D-Day event at Purfleet on Sunday, 7 June.
Those veterans who wish to attend as guests are asked to contact Vice-Chairman Richard Smith on 01708 523409 or Secretary Sue Gosling on 07751 099352. A buffet and refreshments will be available to guests on the day.
The Centre will be open from 10am until 4.30pm, with many various groups attending, including 101st Airborne re-enactment group, military vehicles, live 1940s music etc.
The museum will observe a minute’s silence at 11am for those who died during the Normandy invasion.
