Tilbury Councillor Lyn Worrall made an impassioned speech in Council last night (Wednesday) on behalf of the dozens of Tilbury parents who have not been allocated places to the Gateway Academy next year.
Clutching a petition with hundreds of signatures, Cllr Worrall said:
“It beggars belief that families who have lived in Tilbury for generations have not been given places in the flagship school.
“Gateway Academy was supposed to be a 21st century school that gave a breadth of opportunities for the children of Tilbury.
“Instead, many may have to travel miles away with additional expense.”
Parents were set to attend appeals panels in Tilbury all this week.
