Boxing4Schools

Former Boxing Champion, Wayne Lewellyn brought along his Boxing4Schools programme to Thurrock and Basildon College.

With more than 20 years experience under his belt, Wayne, believes in the benefits of boxing and the positive impact that the sport can have on young people.

Whilst competing in America he gained experience of working with underprivileged children and was inspired by the positive effect that boxing had on their lives. This experience is the driving force behind his ambition to reintroduce boxing into schools, and have non-contact boxing back on the school curriculum.

“The benefits of boxing are absolutely immense. The sport teaches kids about discipline, focus and concentration, and these skills all transfer into the classroom making for a better learning environment”
“Boxing4Schools makes the sport accessible, giving kids the chance to try it out and reap the benefits”.

Julius Francis also faced the best in his time including Mike Tyson and came along to help out wayne and the team as they put the college students through their paces including young Chadwell boxer, Chloe Winter. Don’t be deceived by the size: she packs quite a punch!
