ONE OF the exciting acts at the Thurrock Festival will be the dancers actors and singers from The Creative Blast Academy.
Formerly, Baylees Theatre School, the Academy is hard at work for their perfomances on the weekend of July 25th/26th.
Director Marcia Carr said ‘Since we took over the management of the School in January of this year, it has been a really exciting time for us. We have introduced more opportunities for our students to ensure they get the most out their training and felt that this was the right time for us to introduce a fresh new-look and to bring the school in-line with all of the other activities we undertake.’
The Academy is part of the Creative Blast group of companies which include an Arts PR and Marketing arm, Education based work for schools and an Agency for young actors.
The Creative Blast Academy has studios at the Grays School in Hathaway Road and in Billericay at Barleylands Craft Village. Most classes run on Saturday’s during term and include an hour each of Singing, Dance & Drama. Little SparX is the new name for the Academy’s classes for 3-5 year olds where youngsters are taught using a mixture of the performing arts in one 45 minute class.
Director and Head of Academy Daryl Branch said ‘Our classes and student numbers have more than doubled since the beginning of the year and I can’t thank all of our dedicated and hardworking staff enough. It’s been a really busy time and our students are benefiting from the great number of opportunities that are now open to them. You can see our students performing at the Queen’s Theatre, Hornchurch as part of First Feat on the 12 July and at the Thurrock Festival on Grays Beach on the 25 July’.
It isn’t only about performing at the Creative Blast Academy. Students learn valuable transferable skills such as team work and negotiating, and many parents regularly comment on the increase in self-confidence in their children and the improvement of their school work as a direct result!.
To celebrate the name change of the school, the Creative Blast Academy are offering three one-year scholarships at each of its schools: two for boys aged 14 to 18 and one to girls in the same age bracket. Auditions for scholarships will take place over the summer break. Anyone interested in auditioning should email firstname.lastname@example.org for an application form.
