HIGH praise from the Department of Health has bouyed Thurrock Council’s Adult Social Care Department.
Strategic Director John Bolton visited the Department two weeks ago and described the Department in glowing terms.
Mr Bolton said: “I was impressed with your approach to the delivery of social care. I think that your work on outcomes is groundbreaking.
“You have taken the practice in both case management and commissioning to a level beyond anything else that I have seen in England. If you continue to build on this, you will create a great social care system.
“I also think that the modernisation of your day opportunities programme for adults with learning disabilities is another example of best practice which I will be using in my new document “Use of Resources in Adult Social Care”
“I think that the combination of the closure of the large day centres with a focus on outcomes for the people who are engaged in your service was enlightening and inspiring to us all.
I can say without hesitation that your developments are by far the best that I have seen in any place I have visited in England over the last 18 months.”
