A MAN arrested on saturday following a four-hour siege in Grays was sectioned by doctors on his appearance at Grays Magistrates Court on Monday.
Lee Mallin, 28, Oak Road, Grays was examined by several doctors at the court who after several hours decided to use the powers under Section 2, Mental Health Act, 1983.
Mallin may now be detained in a hospital for up to 28 days.
No date as yet has been set for his re-appearance.

Police were contacted shortly before 8am on Saturday, (August 15) following reports that man and a woman were having an argument at a house on Oak Road.
Officers arrived and tried to talk to the man, but he refused to leave the premises.
Two hours into the incident, Essex Fire Brigade were called to the incident after it is alleged the male threatened to set fire to the house.
At approx midday, Lee Mallin was arrested and subsequently charged with one count of affray, one count of racially-aggravated harassment and one count of criminal damage.
The 28-year-old unemployed man from Oak Road has been detained in police custody prior to his appearance at Grays Magistrates Court on Monday, August 17.
