Aveley’s early season promise came down to earth with a bump as they lost 3-0 at home to Terry Yorath’s Margate.
Expectation was high at Mill Field that three points would see them leap to the top of the Ryman Premier but that looked a little premature as the Millermen, on a very dry pitch, couldn’t muster a decent move in the first half.
Margate have had a sluggish start to the season but there was nothing slow about this performance as they always looked likely to score, especially from the dead-ball.
