Essex Police have confirmed that they did launch an investigation into allegations of financial irregularities at Thurrock Council.
In an interview with Cllr Hipsey yesterday (Tues) he would not be drawn on whether he, along with Interim Chief Executive Mike Rowan, had attended at Grays Police Station last November.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We can confirm that we received a complaint regarding financial irregularities in respect of Thurrock Council.
“There was insufficient evidence to proceed and advised them that perhaps an internal investigation would be appropriate.”
