JUSTICE minister Bridget Prentice was clearly very impressed with the Grays Domestic Violence Courts. Since their inception in April 2007, they have made a real impact into the handling of domestic violence cases in the region.
Some figures are quite shocking: it is well documented that two women per week die as a result of domestic violence but YourThurrock learned during the visit that it often takes a victim 35 incidents before they will make a complaint.
We spoke to Ms Prentice as well as Manager of Thurrock Womens Aid, Erika Jenkins and Clerk of the Court Francis Garland-Collins.
