Eight fire appliances raced to The Old St Chads School site this afternoon at 4.20 pm to be confronted with a building 40 x 40 metres well alight. The buildings are in the process of being demolished at the moment but many buildings are still intact. The column of smoke could be seen from Canary Wharf.
The fire was eventually extinguished by 7pm and crews remained on scene damping hotspots. The cause at this stage is unknown.
Take a look at the film.
Terrific film Mike – almost feel the heat from the blaze. Will you do a follow up regarding the cause of the fire, could it have been started deliberately?
