The Dockers travelled to Redbridge on Saturday on the back of a stunning midweek performance against a competent Wingate & Finchley side, the Dockers taking all three points with a 2-1 victory.
Manlee Brown gets the nod to start up front with Joel Barnett. Chris Taylor dropping into midfield takes up a position on the right hand-side. Tilbury’s Skipper Jamie Wallace not available for selection which leaves the armband to the experienced Joe Keith.
Tilbury were first to take the initiative, the 3rd minute in and Chris Nwsou tries an ambitious effort from 25 yards, Redbridge’s Keeper and Ex Docker David McCartney making easy work of the shot as he pulls it out of the air.
6th minute of the game and the Dockers working hard and open up the Redbridge defence, Chris Taylor sends in a looping effort which falls to Joel Barnett just inside the box, the Dockers front man turns on the volley but once more McCartney spotting the danger brings the ball under control.
8th minute and Joe Keith sends in a teasing ball from a corner kick, the ball drops to Ben Bradbury and from just inside the box, Bradbury’s effort is kicked off the line, lucky escape for Redbridge.
10th minute and against the run of play the Dockers concede, Leon Diaczuk on the end of a through ball from Fabio Jesus which Diaczuk gladly accepts to slot home from close range.
Redbridge 1-0 in front now take the game to the Dockers, Harry Oniha almost to the by-line swings the ball across goal to the feet of Georgiou whose shot was blocked by the Dockers defender Rickie Hayles.
Redbridge once more set off towards the Tilbury goal, Jesus creating some space down the right strikes a great ball into the Dockers area, Tilbury’s Keeper Andy Hall forced to make a fabulous save to his right to keep the score 1-0.
Some good work by Mark Nougher down the Tilbury right sends in a teasing effort onto the head of Harry Oniha whose effort springs over the bar.
5 minutes to go in the first half and the Dockers come close to equal the score, the ball threaded through a packed defence by Joe Keith into the path of Joel Barnett who sprints off towards the Redbridge goal, Barnett muscles his way through a wall of defenders and from just inside the box blasts a thunderbolt shot which smashes off where the post and crossbar meet and out for a goal kick.
8 minutes into the second period of the game and the Dockers seemingly out of ideas up front choose to bring on Kayan Kalipha who replaces Manlee Brown, plus Zubair Hazeem on for Chris Nwosu.
Joe Keith working hard down the left plays a nice one two with Ben Bradbury, Keith continues with his run as he bends a great ball into the Redbridge area where Rickie Hayles was waiting to head the ball just over the bar.
62 minutes and a massive blow to the Dockers’ as they concede their second goal of the game. Leon Diaczuk collecting the ball from 30 yards out twists and turns the Tilbury defence ragged as he finds some space just inside the box to slot the ball into the corner of the net, 2-0 to Redbridge.
Tilbury makes their final substitution, Ben Bradbury making way for Lee Hodges.
The Dockers desperate to regain their composer came close in the 65thminute of the game when Lee Hodges put through a sublime pass across goal onto the head of Kayan Kalipha, whose glancing header went inches wide of the post.
Tilbury step it up a gear, 73rd minute and Kayan Kalipha collects the ball 25 yards out and fires in a blistering effort over the head of McCartney which smashes off the underside of the bar, the Dockers left wondering what they have to do to score a goal in this game!
Daniel Smith and Christian Wheeler giving a backbone performance continue to drive the Dockers forward, wheeler pushing the ball wide to Smith who in turn sends in perfect pass to the feet of Barnett whose ostentatious effort sneaks just inches past the post.
The Dockers continue to pressurise the Redbridge defence, Lee Hodges in creative mood as he sends in a pinpoint pass to the feet of Kalipha, who allows the ball to run through his legs and into the path of Barnett whose effort bullets inches over the bar from 15 yards out.
Redbridge reduced to 10 men, Harry Oniha getting his second yellow of the game after hacking the legs of Rickie Hayles.
87th minute and the Dockers get their reward, Glen Golby collecting the ball from 22 yards out picks his spot and unleashes a fire bolt into the top right hand corner of the goal, McCartney having no chance as the ball hits the net, 2-1.
89th minute and the Dockers equalise, with some fine work down the right by Chris Taylor who sends the ball into the box to Kalipha who turns on a sixpence to poke the ball into the net from close range, 2-2.
The Dockers continue to press hard and come close in injury time, Glen Golby involved in the move as he chips the ball over the heads of the advancing Redbridge Defence, Joel Barnett reading the game well latches onto the ball and goes goal-bound just inside the box fires a wicked shot towards goal, David McCartney at full stretch across his goal to push the ball out for a corner.
The Corner ball driven in by Joe Keith which falls kindly to Kalipha and from 8 yards out looks to have scored, but once again heroic keeping from McCartney who makes a tremendous save to keep his side in the game.
Last few minutes and a mix up in the Dockers defence leaves Andy Hall dribbling outside his area, Dockers defence in confusion as Daiczuk collects the ball from 10 yards out, however, Hall managing to push Diaczuk’s shot wide of the post.
The Match official allowing 5 minutes injury time finally halted this entertaining game. The Dockers felt they did enough to have taken all three points scoring two late goals and hitting the woodwork twice, likewise Redbridge 2-0 up with 3 minutes to play equally felt they deserved the three points and it was theirs for the taking!
