Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery of a security guard at the Tunnel Industrial Estate at Lakeside on Friday, October 2.
Just before 10am a security guard collecting money from JJB Sports was approached from behind by a white man who demanded he hand over the cash box.
The cash box contained a three-figure sum.
The man then got in to a dark coloured five-door hatchback car which was waiting with three other white men inside.
He is described as aged in his 20s, about 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of slim build, with patchy stubble on his face and spoke with a local accent.
He was wearing a black hooded top with the hood up, black bottoms and gloves.
The security guard, a 30-year-old man from Kent was uninjured. No weapons were used.
Officers believe the same men were acting suspiciously at a service station in New Road, Rainham, about ten minutes prior to the robbery at Lakeside.
Anyone with information about the robbery as well as anyone who may have seen the vehicle acting suspiciously at either location is asked to contact police at South Ockendon CID on 0300 333 4444.
