Friday 13th November sees the visit of sixties stars, The Searchers to the Thameside Theatre in Grays.
With such classic hits as Sweets For My Sweet; Needles and Pins; Don’t Throw Your Love Away and When You Walk In The Room, The Searchers have contributed enormously to the British music industry, with record sales well in excess of 40 million. No doubt the decade that gave us The Beatles and The Searchers was unique and pervades all cultural and age barriers today.
2008 saw a welcome and deserved return to the UK charts with the release of ‘The Very Best of The Searchers’ album. A compilation of 25 of their famous hits and best known original recordings.
One of the few remaining hit touring bands that emerged from the heady days of the early 60’s, The Searchers are in as much demand today as they have been throughout their fantastic career which now remarkably spans more than 40 years. Whilst they are so enthusiastically and warmly received, they will continue to tour. Their travels for this year also include engagements in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia.
