WHEN YourThurrock reporters looked across the tables at the wonderful Civic Awards on friday night and then along the columns of dignitaries at the Grays Remembrance Service we wondered where was the Interim Chief Executive of Thurrock Council, Bob Coomber?
So we asked Thurrock Council: “Where was Mr Coomber?
A council spokesman said: “It is clearly part of the responsibilities of a permanent Chief Executive to attend civic and ceremonial functions on behalf of the council.
“Mr Coomber however occupies this role on an interim basis, usually for four days per week. On occasions when events take place on days when Mr Coomber is not working with the Council, Lorna Payne acts as the council’s Chief Executive.
“This was the arrangement operating during last weekend.”
Bit of a non story don’t you think? Another slow news day?
