The political divide was put aside in favour of sporting prowess on Friday (27 November) and raising funds for charity.
Thurrock councillors took on the Treetops School netball team … in fancy dress.
They raised an estimated £250 for the Children in Need charity, dressed as everything from Super Woman, Scoobie Doo and a witch, to a monk! Yes, one of the team was male!
Cheered on by what seemed like the whole school, the game was close throughout, especially as some of the councillors’ team found themselves on the “naughty chair” for fouls and cheating, but youth and skill won out in the end with Treetops winning 3-2.
The councillors taking part were (in alphabetical order): Eddie Hardiman, Cathy Kent, Sue MacPherson, Val Morris-Cook, Pauline Tolson, Lynn Worrall and Wendy Herd.
