Police have charged a 27-year-old man with aggravated burglary and theft in connection with a break-in which happened in Stanford-le-Hope on December 12.
Lee Kelly, of Havengore, Basildon, has been charged with an aggravated burglary of an address in Fairview Chase where he assaulted a man inside. The 23-year-old man, who was attacked with a hockey stick, received bruising and cuts to the head and face.
Stolen from the flat was a black Apple iPhone. The burglary happened between 3.45am and 4am on Saturday, December 12.
Kelly will appear before magistrates in Basildon this morning, Monday, December 14.
