POLICE have reminded revellers in Grays not to drink in public places this Christmas.
Signs have been put up in the town centre warning people they face a £500 fine if they are caught drinking in public.
In response to concerns from residents, the town centre was officially designated a no alcohol zone earlier this month.
Chief Insp Paul Moor, of Thurrock police, said: “Antisocial behaviour and people being drunk in public is a real issue for residents.
“This order will give us the powers to crack down on this nuisance and help improve the lives of Grays’ residents.”
