FIRE CREWS had to use cutting equipment to gain access to two burning kebab vans in a London Road industrial estate.
The fire took place at 4am on the Queensbridge Industrial Park. On arrival, the crews discovered that the two vans were well alight close to surrounding buildings and cylinders.
At 04:24 hrs, the officer in charge requested the attendance of an additional crew because water shortages were hindering firefighting operations and an additional appliance from Orsett was set to the scene.
At 05:02 hrs, the officer in charge reported that the fire was out and that crews were using two hose reels to cool propane cylinders involved in the incident, as well as turning over and damping down to ensure all hotspots were out.
A joint Police and Fire Service investigation will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire.
