Swine Fine for Tilbury Pig Owner

A TILBURY woman was fined and ordered to pay costs after admitting she could not produce documents for pigs she kept in her back garden.

A Thurrock Council Trading Standards officer first went to the Darwin Road address after receiving a noise nuisance allegation. There they saw the two pigs.

Later, when officers returned, the pigs had disappeared and there was no completed record of them or of their destination.

People who keep livestock need to maintain adequate movement records for disease control purposes.

At Basildon Magistrate’s Court on Friday (12 February), Lisa Hollman admitting not producing the records.

She was fined £50 with £200 costs and ordered to pay a £15 victim surcharge.
