Hague Cracks Whip to Remove Rebel Cheale

LEADER OF Thurrock Council, Cllr Garry Hague has reacted strongly to Cllr Anne Cheale’s vote of no confidence by putting into motion the process to “withdraw the whip” from the rebel councillor.

A statement from Cllr Garry Hague said:

“The Conservative Party will not tolerate this kind of behaviour. I have the backing of the Thurrock Conservative Group and the process for the Conservative whip to be removed from Anne Cheale is now being progressed.”

Cllr Hague spoke to press after the cabinet meeting where he would not be drawn on anything but the statement. However he did confirm that he had the full backing of all 21 other members of the Tory group.

Cllr Cheale is due to appear at a Planning Committee tomorrow night.

Full Council will be held next wednesday at 7pm.

  1. Sounds like Cllr Cheale may have bitten off more than she can chew by calling for the vote of no confidence, Cllr Hauge looks ike he has a lot of backing, I bet this will not sit well with the local Labour party as I am sure that they may have thought that this was a way in through the back door.

What people have got to realise is that TBC was in just as much mess under Labour as it is under the Tories so nothing has changed
