REBEL Tory Councillor Anne Cheale made her first public appearance last night since her own party announced their intention to withdraw the whip from her.
Appearing at a Planning committee meeting, Cllr Cheale sat flanked by Labour and lay members.
Fellow Tories appeared not so much to give her the cold shoulder as to appear socially awkward apart from former Mayor, Cllr Joy Redsell who exhanged smiles and glances.
Cllr Cheale appeared in fine procedural form in the meeting, unpicking a number of items in the planning meeting.
After the meeting, Cllr Cheale, appearing visibly unwell and flustered, refused to speak to waiting press.
Asked if she had any support from her fellow Tories, she replied: “I have to go to another meeting. No comment.”
