HASSENBROOK’S Hayley McLean completed a dream weekend as she won gold in the Under-17’s National Combined Events Champs at the Sheffield Indoor Arena.
Hayley, 15, started the day by winning the 60m hurdles and jumping 1cm short of her personal best (PB) in the high jump. Good performances in the Long Jump and Shot Putt left her in second place going into the last event: the 800 metres where an inspired Hayley beat her rival by 12 seconds and gain the gold in a PB of 3291 points that puts her at No 1 in the UK.
Hayley’s day was complete when she was presented with her gold by world champion Jessica Ennis.
