A KNIFE-WIELDING MAN with a history of mental health problems held police and paramedics at bay for several hours on the roof of a flat in Civic Square, Tilbury yesterday (saturday).
Ambulance crews were called to the Civic Square at 9am yesterday regarding the man who was described as having a history of mental health problems. On attending, they were confronted by the man in possession of a knife. The police were called but by this stage, he had clambered onto the roof of the flat in Civic Square.
Police negotiators spent several hours trying to entreat the man to come down. The area was sealed off.
At just after midday, the male came down from the flat. He was arrested and remains in custody.
