As some of you may be aware, my world is ever so slightly wacky and I undertake a variety of quirky challenges; and this year is no exception! This September, I have made the brave and somewhat crazy decision to cycle from London to Paris in aid of Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
However, as always, I have added an extra quirky twist to my cycling challenge. That quirky twist comes in the form of Bertie the Bubble-tastic Flower Powered Bike. To clarify, Bertie Bubble has a flower covered basket and bubble machine attached to his frame, hence his name.
Throughout our four day cycling adventure, Bertie Bubble and I will be aiming to make as many people as possible smile at the sight of our bubbles. I hope you agree that a challenge is about making a difference to people’s lives, and Bertie Bubble and I want to do all we can to make a difference to the people we meet. So even though, a bubble is simple, it always makes people smile, and a smile is what spreads happiness, and happiness makes a big difference to people’s lives. For that reason, Bertie Bubble and I have decided to call their international bubble challenge ‘Cycling Miles For Smiles’.
Bubbles aside, this is an incredibly strenuous challenge which covers approximately 300 miles of land. Nevertheless, I am not fearful of the challenge ahead. Instead, Bertie Bubble and I are looking forward to it and we hope Bertie Bubble’s magic will spread as much positive happiness to everyone we meet.
I have to admit, I am not the fittest cyclist, nor the most experienced on a bike. However, if I was the greatest cyclist it wouldn’t be a challenge for me. I want to my challenge to show everyone that they are capable of everything. You just have to believe in yourself and give it a go. At the end of the day, you have nothing to lose but everything to gain’.
