Pedestrian Struck Down on London Road

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road crash in Grays which has left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

The collision happened at midnight on Tuesday, April 13 when a pedestrian was struck by a blue Mercedes C180 near the Old Shant Public House on London Road.

The victim, a 29-year-old man from Barking in east London, was conveyed to Basildon University Hospital via land ambulance after sustaining a serious head injury. He is in a critical, life-threatening condition.

The car driver, a 29-year-old woman from Grays, was uninjured.

A section of the road was closed for approximately three hours while forensic collision investigators carried out their enquiries.
