Firefighters were called to a fire in a flat in Gloucester Court, Dock Road, Tilbury. Crews were tackling the fire using one hose reel and the aerial ladder platform. The electricity board were requested to isolate the internal power supply.

Crews are continuing to tackle the blaze and steady progress is being made.

The Incident Commander reported that the main seat of the fire had now been extinguished and crews are currently extinguishing small pockets of fire in the wall cavity. A building surveyor has been requested to assess the structure of the builiding.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, ECFRS and the police will carry out an investigation.
