Aveley made light work of Tonbridge in their final league game of the season to secure third spot in the league and a semi-final play off spot against Boreham Wood on monday night.
It has been the football comeback of the season. Only in february, Aveley were hovering just two points above the relegation zone. Since then, they have won game after game after game.
One of the reasons will clearly be the steely resolve of boss Rod Stringer. The three other teams left in the play offs will clearly fear the momentum and self belief that is running through their veins.
Whatever happens: third is a remarkable achievement for a team that simply wanted to survive this year. To make the play-offs two years in a row is a fantastic achievement. Not bad for a village team.
